Julia Turnbull

Senior Fellowship Program Associate, Legatum Center for Development & Entrepreneurship at MIT

Julia joined the Legatum Center as the Fellowship Program Associate in November 2014. At the Legatum Center, Julia works with MIT students building innovation-driven ventures in frontier markets in the flagship Fellowship for Principled Entrepreneurial Leadership and the Zambezi Prize for Innovation in Financial Inclusion.
Before joining the Legatum Center, Julia worked in international finance. At the Inter-American Development Bank Julia evaluated the social and economic impact of infrastructure investment and then went on to work in agriculture finance at Root Capital in Cambridge, MA. As a graduate student, Julia volunteered with Fundación En Vía, a lending organization in Oaxaca, Mexico, to increase access to small business finance in rural areas.
Julia holds a B.A. in International Relations from Connecticut College and an M.A. in International Economics from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
